NDE trains Kebbi youths on environmental beautification

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Kebbi State, has commenced the training of 42 unemployed youths on environmental beautification under its Environmental Beautification Scheme in the state.

The Acting Director- General of the NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, said this at the flag-off and orientation ceremony of the trainees of the scheme in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.

“The Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS) is designed to create decent jobs to unemployed school leavers and drop-outs through training and development in the landscaping service value chain.

“The scheme promotes environmental renewal in habitats ( Urban and Rural) particularly towns and cities offering skills in aesthetics, protection sanitation, ornamentation to finishing and employability skills,” Fikpo said.

According to him, two trainees are drawn from the 21 local government areas of the state.

The D-G, represented by the State Coordinator of the Directorate, Alhaji Abdullahi Danjuma Machika,urged the participants to take the training seriously to better their communities and assist themselves and the country at large.

Earlier, Alhaji Idris Mahmoud,Representative of the Director, Special Public Works department of the NDE, enjoined the participants to be committed to the training so as to acquire the requisite skills needed to be self reliant and an employers of labour.

He also advised them to obey the rules and regulations of their training centres during the training period.

One of the participants, Muhammad Usman, thanked the director- general and NDE’s Management for finding them worthy to participate in the laudable programme.
