The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring comprehensive development throughout the region. This commitment was emphasized by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Alkali, during a project inspection in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi state on Saturday.
Alkali highlighted the commission’s readiness to provide necessary interventions to mitigate the hardships caused by insurgency and other disasters affecting the region’s residents. He emphasized that the NEDC’s efforts are evenly distributed across all states in the region, ensuring equitable development.
During the inspection, Alkali expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress of certain construction projects at the National Obstetrics Fistula Center in Ningi. He summoned the contractor to Maiduguri, the headquarters of the commission, for an explanation regarding the delays. Alkali stressed the importance of understanding the causes behind the slow pace to expedite project completion.
He further reiterated the commission’s goal to operationalize the facilities promptly. The NEDC aims to equip the Surgical Ward and the Skills Acquisition Centre to facilitate treatment and rehabilitation of patients. Alkali praised the management of the Fistula Center for their dedication to patient care and assured continuous support from the NEDC to achieve the center’s objectives.
