NG-CARES: ZAMFARA AGENCY DISBURSES N250 MILLION TO 25 COMMUNITIES
The Zamfara Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) has disbursed a total of N250 million to 25 communities for various development projects across the state.
The projects to be funded by World Bank Assisted Project NG-CARES (Result Area 1)
The agency also commenced disbursement of Social Transfer and Labour Intensive Public Workfare (LIPW) to over 2000 beneficiaries in the state.

Presenting the cheques of the money to the beneficiaries in Gusau on Wednesday, the State Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Aliyu Tukur urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds given to them judiciously in order to gain more support from the project.
Tukur who is the Chairman State Cares Steering Committee, called on the beneficieries of the social transfer and LIPW to utilize opportunities given to them for their future development.
According to him, the NG-CARES and Matawalle Vision 2023 is aimed at eradicating poverty and promote livelihood of vulnerable groups in the society.

The Commissioner reiterated state government’s commitments to continue initiating various programmes in partnering with development and other donor agencies for the development of the state.
Also speaking, the General Manager of the agency, Alhaji Garba Muhammad called on project management committees from the benefiting communities who were assigned to carry out the implementation of the projects to ensure quality jobs.
According to him the benefiting communities included Genu, Daki Takwas, Sabongarin Bukkuyyum, Sabongarin Bungudu, Mayanchi, Mallamawa, Garbadu, Anguwar Shinkafi, Yarkofoji, Bunaje, Kiri Fada, Dauran and Shanawa among others.
He said the projects to be executed will cover water supply, health, education, drainages and electrification among others.
The Manager Basic Services of the agency, Alhaji Sani Buhari uged the committees to be honest and ensure timely completion of the projects.
According to him, the agency has zero tolerance to corruption and cautioned the committees against engaging in acts of corruption.
Also speaking, the Manager LIPW of the agency, Umar Nakwada said a
total N79,740 million have been earmarked for payment of 886 beneficiaries selected from the State Social Register to benefit from the project.
“Each of the beneficieries will receive N15,000 monthly.
The Social Transfer Manager of the project, Bashir Abdulhadi said a total of 1200 beneficiaries including widows, aged people, people with special needs, lesprivileged among others were selected to benefit from the project.
Abdulhadi said N36 million earmarked for the payment of N5000 to each beneficiary under the social transfer in 12 months.
