NGF condoles Niger, Borno, Yobe, over fatal accident, flooding

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has extended its condolences to the government and people of Niger State following a tragic petrol tanker explosion along the Bida-Agaie-Lapai Highway, which claimed the lives of 48 people and numerous livestock.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, the NGF on Tuesday commiserated with the families of the victims, prayed for the repose of their souls, and wished a swift recovery for the injured.

The Forum emphasized that the incident underscores the need for all road users to prioritize safety at all times.

The NGF also expressed its firm solidarity with the governments and people of Borno and Yobe States as flooding ravages parts of Maiduguri city and Jere (both in Borno) and some local government areas of Yobe, displacing thousands of residents.

“The heavy flooding resulted from the collapse of the dike and the overflow of the Alau Dam in Borno State.”

In concluding, the NGF affirmed its resolution to stand with the governments and residents of the affected areas during this natural disaster, commending the swift efforts of the Federal Government and the state authorities to bring immediate relief to the victims.
