Nigerians Reject Calls for Protests, Citing Fear of Chaos, Economic Devastation

158

In a strong show of opposition, Nigerians are speaking out against the planned protests, citing concerns over the potential for chaos and economic devastation.

Already, a sense of unease settles over Nigeria as the country braces for planned protests on August 1, 2024.

The demonstrations, ostensibly against hunger and hardship, have sparked widespread concern over the true intentions of the organizers.

Intelligence sources suggest that external forces, in cahoots with local collaborators, aim to exploit the protests to sow chaos and destruction. The Defence Headquarters has issued a stern warning, urging the organizers to reconsider their plans and opt for dialogue instead.

Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa has appealed for calm, cautioning that the protests risk being hijacked by hoodlums, with potentially disastrous consequences. International authorities, including the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada, have also sounded the alarm, advising their citizens in Nigeria to exercise extreme caution.

As the protests draw near, Nigerians from all walks of life are uniting in opposition, calling for peaceful resolution instead of chaos and destruction. The commercialization of the protest, with branded T-shirts selling for 10,000 Naira, has raised further questions about the organizers’ true motives.

The Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE) estimates that Nigeria stands to lose a staggering N400 billion daily due to the planned protests.

CEO Muda Yusuf cautioned that the demonstrations pose grave dangers to the already fragile economy, with severe consequences for the country and its citizens. Security forces are on high alert, with the Guards Brigade stepping up patrols in flashpoints to prevent any untoward incidents.

As tensions simmer, Nigerians hold their breath, hoping for a peaceful resolution to the unfolding crisis. With the country’s economy and security hanging in the balance, the opposition to the protests is clear: Nigerians will not stand idly by as chaos and destruction threaten their nation.
