NPC: ZURMI EMIRATE COUNCIL SETS UP A 25-MAN COMMITTEE TO SUPPORT EAD EXERCISE

Zurmi Emirate Council in Zamfara state has set up a 25-man committee to support the ongoing Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD) exercise phase 14 of the National Population Commission (NPC).

The ongoing EAD Phase 14 exercise of the NPC is taking place in Tsafe and Zurmi Local Government Areas of the state.

The emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku announced the formation of the committee on Saturday when he received NPC Federal Commissioner in the state, Alhaji Muttaka Rini who visited the emirate.

Atiku said the committee has former state commissioner of finance, Alhaji Isiyaka Zurmi as Chairman has the mandate to ensure the success of the exercise in the area.

He called on the people of the area to give maximum support and cooperation to the exercise considering its importance on various rights of the citizens.

In his remark, the NPC Federal Commissioner, Alhaji Muttaka Rini said the visit is to sensitise stakeholders on the importance of the exercise.

Rini said advantages of EAD exercise does not limit to population census only, infact “we are partnering with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)”.

“Therefore the data of this exercise may be connected to various vital statistics for national development.

“I am therefore using this medium to call on residents of the state to take the exercise with all seriousness considering it’s importance for future development”, he explained.

The Chairman Caretaker Committee of Zurmi LGC, Dr Awwal Bawa commended the NPC delegation for the visit and assured council’s commitments to support the exercise.

Bawa commended the emirate for setting up the committee and pledged to contribute towards the success of the exercise in the area.
