Ile-Ife, Osun State – May 15, 2024: The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), has commended the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, for his dedicated efforts to eradicate economic and financial crimes in Nigeria.

Oba Ogunwusi made these remarks while receiving Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE I Hauwa Garba Ringim, Acting Zonal Director of the Ibadan Zonal Command, who paid him a courtesy visit. The monarch praised Olukoyede’s leadership, expressing confidence that his direction would lead to significant successes in the fight against corruption.

“Let me thank the Chairman of the Commission for his unequivocal commitment and efforts towards the fight against corruption. I sincerely believe that the fight against corruption will be won under the leadership of the current Chairman due to his total belief in community engagement and effective collaboration among relevant stakeholders who play pivotal roles in combating the menace of corruption,” Oba Ogunwusi stated.

He further commended the professionalism displayed by EFCC staff in their duties, noting that the internal reforms under Olukoyede’s leadership have enhanced the Commission’s ability to fulfill its mandate effectively.

The Ooni of Ife also called on Nigerians to support the EFCC in its mission to eliminate corruption, which has hindered the nation’s economic growth for decades. “The EFCC cannot fight corruption alone; the ownership of economic and financial crimes in the country must be taken by Nigerians in a sincere and dynamic way,” he urged.

Expressing concern about illegal mining activities in Osun State, Oba Ogunwusi assured the EFCC of his support in addressing this issue.

In her remarks, Ringim thanked the Ooni for his hospitality despite his busy schedule, highlighting that his support reflects his commitment to the EFCC’s mandate beyond tribal affiliations. She appreciated his belief in the EFCC’s leadership and assured that the Commission would continue its fight against corruption, illegal mining, and cybercrime in Osun State and across Nigeria.

“The EFCC under the leadership of Olukoyede will not give up the fight against corruption, illegal mining activities, and cybercrime in Osun State and Nigeria at large, regardless of how corruption fights back,” Ringim affirmed.
