Former First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan, has expressed her unwillingness to return to the Presidential Villa.
This statement comes years after her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, left office in 2015 following his electoral defeat to Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking at a public event on Friday, Patience Jonathan emphasized the significant stress associated with being in the public eye.
She stated, “If you call me now for villa, I won’t go there. I won’t. Don’t you see how young I am? The stress is so much. The stress of Nigeria is so much. If God manages to bring you out of it, you should glorify God and thank him.
It is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes. He has taken you there once, why do you want to go there again? Me I won’t go oo!!!”
In addition, Patience Jonathan addressed the ongoing crisis in Rivers State, urging the involved parties to cease hostilities and work towards peace.
The state has been embroiled in conflict following a fallout between former Governor Nyesom Wike and his successor, Siminalayi Fubara.
The tension escalated with a recent incident where an explosive, believed to be dynamite, detonated near the Presidential Hotel on Aba Expressway in Port Harcourt, causing panic.
The state government later announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the explosion.
Patience Jonathan called for peace, stressing the need for reconciliation and stability in Rivers State.
