Pilgrims Agency Chairman empowers 10,013 Kebbi residents
Alhaji Faruk Aliyu-Yaro, Chairman, Kebbi Pilgrims Welfare Agency (KPWA), has empowered no fewer than 10,013 residents of Marafa Ward in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area of the state.
Flagging off the distribution of the items on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi, Gov. Nasir Idris, said the initiative was not surprising, given Aliyu-Yaro’s record of benevolence.
He commended Aliyu-Yaro for his philanthropic gesture, describing it as consistent with his long-standing commitment to supporting the less-privileged.
“This is not surprising; all through his life, Aliyu-Yaro has been helping the less-privileged, and we can all attest to that,” he said.
Idris urged political appointees and politicians to emulate Aliyu-Yaro by initiating similar programmes to uplift the livelihood of people.
“The essence of democracy is the delivery of its dividends, which the state has continued to enjoy through the numerous developmental projects executed by President Bola Tinubu’s administration,” he said.
The governor, therefore, called on the people of the state to continue to support the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Tinubu, and the state government to ensure delivery of more dividends of democracy to grassroots.

Earlier, Aliyu-Yaro, said the gesture was inspired by the exemplary leadership and benevolence of Gov. Nasir Idris and Sen. Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning and former governor of the state.
He recalled that Bagudu, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in 2015, had continued to pursue policies and programmes aimed at uplifting the welfare of Kebbi people.
“I am motivated by the selfless service of our governor and the minister, and their commitment to making life better for the less privileged in the state.
“This is my own way of complementing Gov. Idris’ efforts and promoting the legacy of the minister,” he said.
In his remarks, Bagudu, lauded Aliyu-Yaro for his foresight and commitment to grassroots development, describing the initiative as a model worthy of emulation by the party and politicians across the state.
Bagudu said such interventions would not only uplift families and strengthen small businesses but also deepen public confidence in the party’s leadership.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the support productively, stressing that responsible utilisation would ensure sustainability, create more opportunities, and further entrench the values of service and accountability that the party stands for.
On his part, the APC Chairman in the state, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, commended the philanthropic initiative and urged other politicians, political appointees and government officials to emulate Aliyu-Yaro’s gesture.
Also speaking, Alhaji Sadiq Ibrahim, the Ubandoman Gwandu, who represented the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammad Ilyasu-Bashar, expressed appreciation on behalf of the emirate.
He prayed to Allah to reward Aliyu-Yaro abundantly and guide him to continue serving humanity.
A cross-section of beneficiaries who spoke with NAN described the gesture as timely, especially in view of the prevailing economic hardship.
Malam Usman Garba, a farmer, said the water pumping machine he received would boost his dry-season farming.
“This will really change my life and that of my family because we depend on farming for survival,” he said.
Also, Mrs A’isha Musa, a widow and mother of three, said the rice and grains she received would ease the burden of feeding her children.
“I am very grateful. May Allah continue to bless him and grant him more opportunities to support the needy,” she said.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that the empowerment package comprised N250 million cash support, 50 vehicles, 100 motorcycles, 5,000 bags of assorted rice and grains, 50 water pumping machines, and sets of sportswear, among others.
