Police arrest 3 for alleged theft of mobile phones, motorcycle in Bauchi

Police Command Bauchi State has arrested three for alleged theft of nine mobile phones and snatching a commercial motorcycle in Bauchi Metropolis of the State.

The spokesman of the command SP Ahmed Wakil stated this in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday in Bauchi

According to him,the Operatives attached to the Department of Operation Bauchi Police Command have arrested Suleiman Habibu 25, Atiku Mohammed 30, of Jahun Area of Bauchi metropolis for being in possession of stolen phones

“The suspects were arrested during a visibility routine patrol behind Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium and handed over to detectives attached to ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters for questioning.

“The suspects offered gratification to a public servant, which was, however, rejected,” he said.

Wakil explained that the preliminary Investigation revealed that the suspects were in possession of nine mobile phones.

“That was stolen from victims in different locations in Gombe state,” he said

He said that detectives further recovered dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp as well as the sum of N78,000 offered as a bribe to compromise the investigation but was vehemently declined by the investigating Officer.

Wakil said operatives in the command also arrested Abdullahi Mohammed of Bayan Banki in Mangu LGA of Plateau state for stabbing a commercial motorcyclist with a sharp object and snatching the motorcycle along Ningi road Bauchi Metropolis.

“The suspect confessed to had perpetrated the heinous act to obtain the motorcycle from his victim,” he sais

The Spokesman said the command, Commissioner of Police (CP) Auwal Musa directed that the case be discreetly investigated and charged the suspects to court for prosecution.
