Police confirm killing of 3 farmers, arrest of kidnappings suspect in Edo
The Police Command in Edo has confirmed the killing of three farmers by gunmen suspected to be herders in Sobe community, Owan West Local Government Area of Edo.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday in Benin.
According to him, the Divisional Police Officer at Sobe Divisional Headquarters reported that on March 4, some armed men suspected to be herders stormed a farm settlement in the community and killed the three farmers.
The assailants, however, abandoned the bodies of their victims at the farm settlement.
Nwabuzor identified the deceased as John Udo, Lucky Euze and Pastor Ogbe Unuoha, whose bodies, he said, had been recovered by the police and deposited at a mortuary.
Investigation into the matter, the police spokesman said, was ongoing, assuring that the perpetrators would be arrested and brought to justice.

Also, the command has also confirmed the arrest of a suspected kidnaper at Okada junction in Ovia North East Local Government of the state.
The kidnap suspect, Nwabuzor said, was apprehended by the command’s rapid response and intelligence unit on March 28.
He said that the police, while acting on credible intelligence, arrested the 35-year-old suspect at Okada junction and recovered one local cut-to-size gun from him.
