Police detain 2 suspects over alleged negligence, culpable homicide in Suleja
The Police Command in Niger says it has detained two suspects over alleged negligence and culpable homicide following the death of a 15-year-old boy in Suleja.
SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Minna.
Abiodun said that on March 1, at about 6 p.m., a report was received at Maje Division that one Emmanuel Danladi, 16, of Kwamba area of Suleja, was playing with his friend, Titus Joseph, 15, in their house.
According to him, during the play, Emmanuel allegedly picked up a loaded dane gun belonging to his father, Danladi Baba, 51, a member of a vigilante group in Suleja.

“In the process of handling the gun, Emmanuel accidentally shot Joseph at close range in the stomach, leading to his death,” he said.
The police spokesperson said operatives attached to the division immediately moved to the scene, while the victim’s corpse was taken to the General Hospital, Suleja.
He added that the suspect and his father were arrested for alleged negligence and culpable homicide.
Abiodun said that the dane gun was recovered as exhibit, while the suspects had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further investigation and prosecution.
