The command’s Spokesman, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, stated this in a statement issued in Damaturu on Monday.

Abdulkarim said that the suspect was arrested on Oct. 20 after she had allegedly concealed the ammunition in her luggage.

“On Oct. 20, 2024, at about 1830 hours, ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Damaturu, received credible intelligence regarding a suspected gun runner en route to Damaturu.

“Swift action led to the interception of a Golf 3 saloon car and a thorough search revealed 350 rounds of live 7.62×39 MM ammunition concealed in the suspect’s luggage,” he said.

Abdulkarim said that the woman was undergoing interrogation to unravel the motive of the crime and the possible criminal syndicate she was working for.

He said that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Garba Ahmed, had reiterated his commitment to combating crime, urging members of the public to support the police with credible information.

“The public is advised to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, persons, or objects to the nearest police station or security formation,” the spokesman said.
