Police detain woman for allegedly killing husband with pestle

The Police Command in Niger has detained 27-year-old Fatima Dzuma for allegedly killing her husband, Baba Aliyu, 25, in Katcha Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement in Minna on Monday.

Abiodun explained that preliminary investigation revealed that the incident occurred during an altercation between them.

He stated that the wife hit her husband on the head with a pestle, resulting in his death.

He also disclosed that the command detained one Aminu Amale, 45, for allegedly demanding N9.5 million from a farmer in Mariga LGA.

He added that the command also detained three armed robbery suspects, Jibrin Ndako, 19, Haruna Abubakar, 20, and Aliyu Abdullahi, 18, for allegedly planning to burgle a provision store.

Abiodun said that the suspects were found with three cutlasses and an industrial iron cutter, and had planned to use them to break into the store.

He also stated that one Abubakar Sadiq was detained for allegedly killing a motorcyclist, Abdulrahman Isah, 20, and stealing his motorcycle.

The police spokesman added that two persons, Ibrahim Garba and Bala Usman, were detained for allegedly buying the stolen motorcycle.

Abiodun stated that the suspects would be transferred to the state CID, Minna, for further investigation and prosecution.

He assured the public that the command would continue to ensure that crime and criminality were reduced to the barest minimum in the state.
