The Police Command in Nasarawa State has presented cheques of over N24 million to family members of its personnel who died in active service and those who sustained serious injuries while on duty.
Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, presented the cheques to the beneficiaries on behalf of Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), in Lafia on Tuesday.
The presentation of the cheques, which took place at the Police Headquarters in Lafia, was attended by top police officers, family members of the deceased personnel, the injured personnel, and other eminent dignitaries.
The CP represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, Richard Bala-Gara, said that the initiative was part of the IGP’s Group Personal Accident, Group Life Assurance, and Family Welfare Programme.
“It was designed to enhance the living standards of families who have suffered loss or injury as a consequence of service in the line of duty.
“This is not just a cheque—it’s a message of remembrance and appreciation. Let it serve as a foundation for something meaningful, a legacy that honours the memory of our fallen heroes,” the CP said.
