Polls: Group endorses PDP guber candidate in Sokoto
An NGO, Youths Mobilisation for Good Leaders in Nigeria (YMGLN), has endorsed the Sokoto State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sa’idu Umar.
Mr Faruku Yabo, the YMGLN National President, unveiled the group’s resolution at a media briefing in Sokoto on Thursday.
According to Yabo, the endorsement of Umar followed the YMGLN’s findings and verdict on the candidate, describing him as ”the most qualified to be the next governor in the state.
“This is in pursuant of YMGLN’s noble objectives, which among others, is mobilising the public, youths and women on electing credible leaders.
“Today, we deem it fit and timely to unveil the most qualified candidate to succeed Gov. Aminu Tambuwal.
“The YMGLN tasked itself, analysed the candidates and concluded that of all the candidates, it endorsed Umar as its preferred candidate,” he said.
Yabo added that their decision was based on his tracks records of prudent management of resources, among others.
“We, therefore, call on the good people of Sokoto State, particularly the youths and women to come out en masse on March 18 and vote for credibility and morality.

“The 2023 general elections indeed are not about Tambuwal or Umar. In fact, they are about credibility against imposition of candidates which violates the tenets of democracy and good governance.
“It is also about our great future, that of our children yet unborn, as such, we deserved competent pilot, one with the fear of God and respect to our heritage for ensuring peace and prosperity in our state and Nigeria,” he added.
Yabo further urged on the teeming youths in the state to be guided by their choice of candidates peacefully not through violence or thuggery.
“We should all come out and vote peacefully, while INEC must ensure that every vote counts and as Muslims, we should accept the real verdict of the people,” he appealed.
