Price I Pay For Stardom – Damilola Royal

For star actress and film maker, Akinola Yusroh, popularly known as ‘Damilola Royal’ stardom comes with a price.

She said stardom has deprived her of some things though she is enjoying the celebrity status.

This question was recently put to her: “Has stardom deprived you of anything?”

“The truth is yes, it has deprived me of so many things,” she replied.
“In fact these days what I do mostly is send people on errands because if I go myself I will end up buying things double the normal price.

“People tend to forget that I am human too and I am living in Nigeria as well, they feel because I am a public figure, so automatically I can’t haggle over price of things, it’s sad though.

“Another thing is the fact that I can’t walk freely going out to parties as I would have loved.

“Now I am very selective in going out. In all of this, I am not surprised because these are part of the things that one has to face as a public figure.”

The actress, who had her formative years in Osun State, attended City Nursery and Primary School, she went further to Bisola College of Arts and Science and from there she went for her higher education at the Federal School of Statistics, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The passion driven and goal oriented actress is not oblivious of the happenings in the country and she bared her mind, stating that the country is at crossroads and appealed to the government to take necessary steps to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians.

She said: “The truth is our government needs to do better, it’s really sad to see that millions of Nigerians are suffering despite all our natural resources, we still find ourselves living in abject poverty.

The government needs to provide more job opportunities for the youths and they need to do something about the sudden skyrocketing prices of commodities…it’s really getting to us and affecting each and everyone of us.”
