Sen. Bomai sponsors 51 Yobe indigent students to India

Sen. Ibrahim Bomai (APC – Yobe South), has sponsored 51 indigent students to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Indian universities.

He said this while inaugurating the scholarship scheme on Tuesday in Postiskum, Yobe.

The event signalled the symbolic departure of the first batch of 51 students under the Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai Education Trust.

Prof. Muhammad Lawan, lauded the even distribution of the beneficiaries across the four local gvernment areas of the zone.

He said the initiative demonstrated fairness, inclusiveness and Bomai’s commitment to education and youth empowerment.

Ibrahim Mohammed, Secretary of the Scholarship Committee, said the gesture reflected Bomoi’s vision for human capital development within and beyond his constituency.

“The effort is a foundation for long-term educational transformation in the district,” Mohammed said.

Also, Ado Ngojin, Chairman, Potiskum Local Government Council, commended the initiative, describing it as a milestone that would have lasting impacts on the lives of young people and the socio-economic growth of the state.

Some of the beneficiaries, Adam Ibbi and Aisha Tanko, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to study abroad.

Tanko described the scholarship as a life-changing experience that would help them contribute meaningfully to the society.

The students are expected to depart Nigeria for their studies in India soon.
