Sen. Wamakko Mourns As 28 Dies 11 Rescued In Sokoto Boat Mishap

Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has registered his deepest condolences to the families of the 28 persons who died after their boat capsized at Dundaye river, Wamakko local government of Sokoto state.

Wamakko, who described the tragic incident as heartbreaking however admonished the locals to take solace in the Almighty God who gives life and takes. 

A statement by the Senators spokesperson, Bashar Abubakar said there is the need for extra caution while using the river especially that it has now overflowed it’s bank because of heavy downpours. 

While praying for speedy recovery 

for those who were rescued alive, Senator Wamakko appeal for prayers for those whose lives were caught short while as a result of the boat mishap. 

Recalled that the wooden canoe was said to have been over loaded with people en route to their farms on Sunday morning, when the canoe suddenly  capsized while at the middle of the river, resulting to the death of many.
