Shehu of Borno lauds Corps members who shunned redeployment from Borno
The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar-Garbai, has lauded the courage and patriotism shown by some Corps members from Southern Nigeria who embraced their posting to Borno state.
Umar-Garbai made the commendation on Thursday while receiving the Corps members who paid him a courtesy call in his palace.
Umar-Garbai commended their decision to serve in Borno and see for themselves the success story of the state in picking up from the sad incident of Boko-Haram insurgency which, he said, was a foreign concept brought to Borno by a foreigner.

He said Borno was known as hope of peace where visitors were accepted but some people took advantage of that to import terrorism.
The royal father who briefed the Corps members on the history of Borno Empire, said at present his emirate covered 16 local government areas with 59 District Heads, 591 villages heads and over 7,000 wards.
While commending the Corps members for the visit and respect for traditional institution, the Shehu prayed for them and urged them to discharge their primary assignment with full commitment.
Earlier when he presented the Corps members to the royal father, the State Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mallam Nura Umar, said the Corp members were at the palace to pay homage and seek his royal blessing.
Umar lauded the sustained support of the royal institution to NYSC programme, and assured of Corps members’ commitment to continue to play a major role in the transformation programmes of the state.
“One of the objectives of the NYSC is to promote national unity and socio-cultural integration of Corps members in their host communities,” Umar said.
Following the incidents of banditry and insurgency, most Corps members seek postings out areas considered dangerous.
