SMEDAN trains entrepreneurs on business skills in Adamawa
Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has trained no fewer than 90 entrepreneurs on business skills in Adamawa, under its National Business Skills Development Initiative (NBSDI).
Director-General of SMEDAN, Mr Olawale Fasanya, stated this at the opening of a five-day training for the participants on Tuesday in Yola.
He said that the participants would be impacted with entrepreneurship and vocational skills during the training.
Fasanya, represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Ado Bello, said at the end of the training, the participants were expected to improve on their business management practices and access to finance and service delivery, among others.
He called on the participants to take advantage of the training to enhance access to markets abroad.
The director-general assured that the agency would continue to support entrepreneurs across the country to enable them provide more job opportunities and ensure wealth creation and poverty alleviation among the citizens.
In his remarks, the SMEDAN Manager in the state, Malam Mustapha Gana, called on the participants to understand that the programme was a key to success in their various businesses, hence the need for them to take it seriously.
“Here in Adamawa, we chose three different skills for the 90 participants, which are: welding and fabrication, fashion designing and leather works,” he said.
Also speaking, the state Branch Manager, Bank of Industry (BOI), Mr Sadiq Ibrahim, commended SMEDAN for organising the training and for supporting the entrepreneurs.

He said that the bank was ready to provide all the necessary assistance for the success of the programme and for the development of the nation’s economy.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Adams Jelani thanked and appreciated SMEDAN for selecting them for the training, stating that it would assist them to improve their businesses.
“We have understood that money for business is for business and not for pleasure. Keeping records and how to access finance to improve on our businesses are also very important,” he said.
Jelani, however, stressed the need for SMEDAN to increase the number of participants to enable more entrepreneurs to benefit from such opportunities.
