Sokoto Judicial Commission of Inquiry Submits Report, Wants Tambuwal’s Govt. To Account For Over 117bn

After over two years since it’s inauguration, the Sokoto State Judicial Commission of Inquiry, Tuesday submitted it’s report, noting that no fewer than One Hundred and Seventeen Bilion, Two Hundred and Thirty Five Million, Two Hundred and Seven Thousand, Ninty Nine Kobo (117,235,207. 99) needed to be accounted for.

“The Commission also found several irregularities, misuse of office and utter disregard to lay down procedures and bureaucratic processes in the conduct of official functions of political office holders during the inquiry. Similarly, findings have been made regarding to specific financial manifestance that resulted in the loss to the government and the good people of Sokoto state the total sum of 117, 235, 207.99”
Reading summary of the Judicial Commission of inquiries at the Sokoto State Government house, chairman of the Commission, Justice Muazu Pindiga said their findings were done in compliance with assigned Term of Reference and the fear of God.
While noting that the complex nature of the assignment compelled the Commission to seek extension of time multiple times, Justice Pindiga however submitted that their responsibility was never to witch-hunt nor an attempt to paint anyone black.
According to Pindiga, the Commission took testimonies of 246 witnesses and receive in evidence, valuables and documents which were marked as exhibits according to the memorandum under consideration in the course of proceeding.
Continuing, Justice Pindiga said their report is in 5 parts with the first covering background, second covers inquiry, testimony, witnesses and evidences while the third and fourth parts covers findings of the Commission on each memorandum and recommendations on it on each with the fifth and last part covering summary and conclusion of the report.

Reacting to the report of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry, governor Ahmed Aliyu said, the establishment of the commission was never an art of vendeta or attempt to settle political scores or target any individual, rather an act of profound constitutional and civil responsibility.
Governor Aliyu who affirmed that setting up the Judicial Commission of Inquiry committee to scrutinize how the State was managed between 29th May 2015 and 29th May, 2023 became imperative following his promise of transparency and acountability to the led in the interest of good governance,
While assuring that, he accepts the commission’s report with a sense of duty, governor Ahmed Aliyu assured of treating it with uttermost seriousness hence the promise of setting up a White Paper Committee soonest.
