Sokoto seeks US intervention on sectoral development

The Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has on United States of America and its investors to partner with the state in the development of Health, Education and Agricultural sector.
He made the call on Tuesday when ambassador to United States of America Mary Beth Leonard paid him a courtesy call at government house Sokoto.
The Governor said the state had enjoyed robust bilateral relationship with United States of America adding that huge investment opportunities abound in the state for US to explore..
He further disclosed that the State had benefited from United States on intervention in the area of Health, Education and Agriculture stressing that they are looking forward for more.

Tambuwal said he was elated for her land mark visit noting that despite banditry and kidnapping the state remain the most peaceful in the North .
“If the state is not peaceful you could have not been here, despite banditry and kidnapping Sokoto remained peaceful he stated.
Earlier ambassador Mary Beth said she visited the State as party of her tour of Nigeria states of Akwaibom , Lagos and Sokoto to strengthen the existing relationship between the states in Nigeria and America.
She noted that to achieve the aim she hoped to interact to discuss and have a better understanding that would create further mutual benefits for the states and US .
She divulged that America had donated $122m to Sokoto through USAID .
She said her coming to Sokoto is not for just traveling sake but to interact and see areas US could help the State.
The Governor later presented hand made leather fan to the ambassador which he said is made by Sokoto local artisan.
