In Kajola Village near Apomu, Osun State, Lukman Adejoju stands accused of murdering his mother, Aminat, following a dispute over the proceeds from the sale of palm oil.

According to an eyewitness named Rasaki, the dispute arose when Lukman and Aminat, assisted by a laborer, sold kegs of palm oil. Aminat insisted on receiving the money directly, which enraged Lukman. The altercation escalated, resulting in Lukman fatally assaulting his about 100-year-old mother.

The village was plunged into shock upon learning of the incident, which occurred around 4 p.m. on a Saturday. Tensions ran high, prompting the intervention of various security agencies, including the police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Kehinde Adeleke, the spokesperson for the NSCDC, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, who was subsequently taken to a police station in Apomu. Normalcy has since been restored to the village.

Yemisi Opalola, the Public Relations Officer for the Osun State Police Command, disclosed that Lukman had been transferred to the command headquarters in Osogbo for further investigation. Lukman reportedly admitted to pushing his mother during the altercation, leading to her fatal fall. He claimed he was unable to explain his actions, attributing them to a mysterious influence.

The tragic incident has left the community reeling, as authorities work to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the shocking crime.
