Tambuwal Commends The Outgoing UNICEF Field Officer

The Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has commended the outgoing Sokoto Field Officer of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for having cordial working relationship with the state government.

The state’s Deputy Governor, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya stated this when he received the retiring UNICEF Field Officer Mohammedeen Fall at Government House, Sokoto.

Dan’iya said the UNICEF is still serving its purpose in Sokoto as an agency responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aids to children.

The Deputy Governor added that having Mr. Fall as Chief of Field Office exposed Sokoto to so many of UNICEF humanitarian assistance, which include ensuring the survival, protection and development of children as well as universal development imperatives, such as girl- child education and women empowerment; that are integral to human progress.

He described international development partners operating in Sokoto as key stakeholders in shaping and making the society a better place for all, while expressing appreciation to Mr Fall for his services to the State.

In a statement by the Director of press to the Deputy Governor Aminu Abdullahi Abubakar quoted Mr Fall expressing his gratitude to the government and people of Sokoto state over the support and cooperation he received during the years he spent working in Sokoto and Nigeria.

He outlined UNICEF’s mission as the mobilization and empowerment of Nigerians to invest in the positive transformation of every child’s future in education, healthcare and empowerment.

He personally thanked Governor. Tambuwal for his listening ear anytime he came calling and described Sokoto as a blessed state in Nigeria with the governor and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, at the helm of affairs of the Caliphate.
