Taraba govt reallocates land for Federal Secretariat Complex, Jalingo – Controller

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, on Thursday confirmed the reallocation of land for construction of the Federal Secretariat Complex by the Taraba government.

Alhaji Ahmad Rabiu, Controller of Housing, Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Jalingo, disclosed this to newsmen in Jalingo.

Rabiu said that the six hectares of land newly approved site was part of the Taraba State Broadcasting Service (TSBS) office located along the Jalingo-Mile Six Federal High Way in Jalingo.

The controller commended Gov. Agbu Kefas for resolving the early controversy surrounding the allocation of the former site for the same project.

He also said that in the reallocation letter, through the Bureau for Land and Survey, the contractor handling the project was directed to relocate the Transmission Mass used by the TSBS to another location before the commencement of the project.

Rabiu noted that the contractor was complying with the directive.

He promised that the project would commence as soon as all those encumbrances were addressed.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that former President Muhammadu Buhari approved the construction of the Federal Secretariat Complex in 2023 to UYK Nigeria Ltd for a period of 18 months.

Former Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba had then allocated five hectares of land for the project.

The project was, however, stalled when the current administration reallocated the same site for the construction of Kefas Ultra Modern Shopping Complex.
