Taraba NASS member empowers constituents, flags off work on projects

Rep. Jafaru Chiroma (PDP/ Taraba), on Sunday distributed electric and manual sewing machines, liquid fertilisers and other business start-up items to his Bali/Gassol constituents.

The National Assembly member also inaugurated work for a project that will connect Mutum-Biyu, Yerima, Gassol and Tella towns with a 33KVA National Grid electricity supply.

He also donated a 500KVA electricity transformer to Mutum-Biyu community as well as a 5,000 litre solar-powered overhead water tank.

Speaking at the ceremony held at Yerima village in Gassol Local Government, Chiroma said it was incumbent on him to give back to the people of the constituency to appreciate them for electing him.

Chiroma explained that access to electricity was a fundamental right of the people and key driver of economic development as it was essential for powering homes, schools, hospitals and businesses.

“Power supply to the rural areas will bring positive transformation; it will provide access to modern amenities such as light, refrigeration and enhance communication.

“It will also create opportunities for small businesses to thrive.”

He commended President Bola Tinubu, Gov Agbu Kefas of Taraba and all stakeholders, for making the constituency projects a reality.

Gov Kefas, represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, commended the giant strides of the federal lawmaker.

“His efforts are in line with the ‘Moving Taraba Forward Agenda’ of my administration. The aim is to bring dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the people at the grassroots,” he said.

Bawa advised the people of the area, particularly traditional rulers, to be security conscious and avoid accommodating strangers with questionable identities.

He said that most criminals, especially kidnappers disturbing the peace of the Taraba, were strangers who migrated from other states.
