TETFund Boss, Echono to be Conferred with the Legacy Award For Educational Advancement and Induction into COEASU

The Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), has nominated the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Arc. Sunny S. T. Echono, for the conferment of its 2024 edition of Legacy Award for Educational Advancement and induction into the COEASU Hall of Fame.

The COEASU said in a letter, ”this recognition is a testament to you exceptional leadership, vision, and dedication to excellence in education, particularly your positive disposition to Teacher Education right from the time you were the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education and now as the Executive Secretary of TETFund.”

The Union also, appreciates his instrumental roles in the actualization of the Dual Mandate, which has enabled Colleges of Education to award both NCE and Degree certificates and his tireless efforts, exemplary leadership, and advocacy that have been pivotal in shaping the future of Teacher Education in Nigeria.

The letter also said, ”your giant strides in TETFund have not only transformed the landscape of education but have also opened up new opportunities for students and educators alike.”

”The Legacy Award for Educational Advancement is a testament to your dedication, vision, and commitment to excellence. We are honoured to recognise your achievements and celebrate your legacy. ”

The award ceremony will take place as follows: Date: Thursday 4th October, 2024. Time: 10am, Venue: Ukeje Hall, NCCE, Abuja.

The International Teachers Day, also known as World Teachers Day, is an internationally recognized holiday held annually on 5 October in most countries of the world, including Teachers Day in Nigeria, the giant of Africa. The day began in 1994 to commemorate the implementation of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO Recommendation dealing with the Status of Teachers, which is a standard-setting instrument that answers the status and situations of teachers around the world.

In the letter sighted by VMT NEWS also stated, ”We would be delighted if you could join us to celebrate teachers in our dear country and receive this well-deserved recognition. Accept our sincerest congratulations on this achievement. We look forward to celebrating you on this great day.”
