In a chilling echo of recent events, tragedy struck again as yet-to-be-identified assailants targeted the palace of Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti local government area of Kwara State. General Segun Aremu (rtd), the revered traditional ruler of the town, fell victim to the attack, which also saw the abduction of his wife and two others.

The harrowing incident unfolded around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday night, sending shockwaves through the community and beyond. Confirming the grim news, the state government, through a statement by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Rafiu Ajakaye, condemned the heinous act in the strongest terms.

Expressing outrage at the “reckless, shocking, and abominable” assault, Governor AbdulRazaq vowed to deploy all necessary resources to bring the perpetrators to justice swiftly. He urged security agencies to spare no effort in tracking down the culprits and securing the safe release of those taken hostage.

“We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity,” declared the governor, extending heartfelt condolences to the grieving community of Koro. “Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always,” he added.

As investigations unfold and the community grapples with this senseless loss, the call for justice reverberates louder than ever, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced security measures to safeguard lives and preserve peace in the region.
