Troops arrest gun runner in Taraba

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested a suspected gu runner in Gassol local government area of Taraba State.
A statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 6 Brigade Lt Umar Muhammad identify the suspect as 25 years old Mr Abdulmudallabi Audu.

The statement reads in parts “acting on credible intelligence, on 12 November 2025, troops conducted a raid operation at Shagada Village under Namnai Ward in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State, which led to the arrest of a suspected gun-runner identified as Mr Abdulmudallabi Audu, aged 25, who was found in possession of arms and ammunition.
“Items recovered from the suspect include One AK-47 rifle, Two AK-47 magazines, and 53 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. The suspect and the recovered exhibits are currently in the custody of 6 Brigade Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.

“The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their vigilance, professionalism, and swift response to actionable intelligence. He reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations across Taraba State to ensure peace, security, and the protection of law-abiding citizens within the North East and adjoining regions.
“He further urged members of the public to continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring lasting peace in the state”.
Our Correspondent reports that incidents of killer herdsmen wrecking havoc on communities have been on the rise in parts of the State lately with over 80 communities sacked in Takum Local Government Area alone and at least 30 people confirmed killed.
