Troops of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have apprehended notorious gunrunners, bandits, and arms couriers, recovering a substantial cache of arms and ammunition in Plateau and Kaduna States.
The arrests and recoveries were made possible through intelligence-driven operations conducted over the past week.
On June 21, troops raided a suspected bandit hideout in Pandam forest, Qua’anpan Local Government Area, Plateau State, recovering three AK-47 rifles, five AK-47 magazines, and 75 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. In a separate operation, a notorious gunrunner was arrested along Riyom-Abuja Road, Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau State, while attempting to supply 35 AK-47 magazines to another gunrunner.
The arrest led to the capture of the major arms supplier in Manchok, Kaura Local Government Area, Kaduna State, and the recovery of 35 AK-47 magazines, 60 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special), three Bajaj motorcycles, three mobile phones, and suspected local charms.
The successful operations were made possible through credible information provided by the public, and security agencies urge continued cooperation to ensure a crime-free environment.
