Two Sisters Abducted by Bandits in Abuja Community

119

In a distressing turn of events, two teenage sisters were abducted from the Guita community in Chikakore, Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

This alarming incident unfolded just eight days following a demonstration by members of the Chikakore village outside the office of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Among their grievances was the deplorable condition of the main route connecting their community, cited as a contributing factor to the region’s escalating rate of kidnappings.

Reports emerging on Wednesday revealed that the abductors struck around 11:25 p.m. on Sunday, despite the presence of military and police personnel in the vicinity.

The assailants, numbering six, forcibly took the 16-year-old and 14-year-old girls through the dense forests and hills of the area. According to a police source in the vicinity who spoke to VMT News, the attackers targeted three of a man’s children, comprising two girls and one boy.

Ultimately, they abducted the two girls and released the boy, instructing him to inform his father to prepare a ransom of N30 million. The source disclosed a shift in the modus operandi of the gunmen, noting that they refrained from gunfire until they were departing.

Despite pleas from the mother to allow her daughters to dress appropriately for the cold, the assailants callously beat her, leaving the girls to endure the chilling weather in their nightgowns.

Efforts by the police and vigilante groups to track the abductors proved futile, with traces leading only to the railway line and rocks before vanishing altogether.

The father of the kidnapped girls, described as a prominent figure in community security initiatives, has reportedly made significant contributions to community welfare. Josephine Adeh, the FCT police spokesperson, assured that details of the incident would be provided upon further inquiry.
