UDUTH disowns viral pictures of HIV patients in circulation
The management of Usman DanFodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) Sokoto has disowned viral pictures of eleven patients of HIV in circulation purported to have emanated from the hospital.
In a statement issued on Sunday on behalf the hospital’s Chief medical Director by the principal information Mansur Wadata said “the attention of the Management of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, has been drawn to a purported poster carrying the name and logo of the Hospital going round, especially in the social media, displaying names and pictures of eleven unsuspected people as HIV positive.
He further disclosed that the poster has further claimed that the Hospital warned the general public against relating with them.

The hospital therefore in view of the above development disassociate itself from such a heinous and barbaric act, capable of jeopardising the image of the Hospital and the people whose names and pictures were portrayed on the poster.
The statement further said to set the record straight, the purported poster does not originate from UDUTHS. Similarly, the Hospital has no medical records of the people on the poster.
The hospital thereby assured the general public that the Hospital policy of clients (patients) confidentiality, even among its members of staff is still enforced, not talk of disclosing their information to the public.
The Hospital affirmed that it will not derail from this policy, in its efforts to provide effective, efficient, accessible and affordable healthcare services to its teeming clients (patients).
It said while the Hospital Management denounces the ungodly act, it once again distances itself from it.
The Management assured the the general public that it will also ensure that the perpetrators of this awful act, face the full wrath of the law.
To this end, UDUTHS Management calls for calm from its clients (patients) and the general public as it will continue to ensure the confidentiality of patients. In addition to that, the Hospital Legal team is working towards taking legal action against the unscrupulous elements.
