Wamakko mourns 13 persons killed in Sokoto boat mishap

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defense and Deputy Chairman,Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko,has described the deaths of thirteen persons as a result of a boat mishap, in Doruwa village, Shagari Local Government of Sokoto State,as very shocking and saddening.

The boat conveying the deceased persons , including women, children and the elderly, was said to be traveling from Doruwa to Ginga , Shagari Local Govenrment, Thursday evening, when it was said to have capsized.

The thirteen recovered dead bodies had since buried accoridng to Islamic rites , same day.

The search for other victims , dead or alive, was said to be still in progress.

Wamakko,a former Governor of the state,who now represents Sokoto North Senatorial District,while reacting to the sad development, said he was rudely shocked on receiving the news of the unfortunate tragedy.

Wamakko lamented that, the mishap occurred barely nine days after the deaths of over one hundred persons in a similar tragedy in Warrah,Warrah Local Govenrment of Kebbi State .

In a statement by special adviser on media and publicity Bashir Rabe Mani said Wamakko prayed the Almighty Allah to grant the deceased persons Aljannat Firdaus, as well as give the bereaved families , people and Governments of Shagari Local and Sokoto State , the formidable fortitude to bear the irreparable losses .

Wamakko also prayed the Almighty Allah to prevent the recurrence of such tragedies in the area,Sokoto State and other parts of the country.
