The former publicity secretary of People Democratic party (PDP) Farouk Ahmed Gusau the Shetima Rigiya said PDP would retrieve its mandate from Zamfara State Governor Dr Muhammad Bello Matawelle for defecting to the ruling All Progressive Congress.
In an interview with newsmen in Gusau the state capital Ahmed argued that the supreme Court judgement that brought in Mutawelle was clear stressing that the mandate belongs to PDP .
“The supreme Court judgement was divine , the supreme Court said that APC has no votes because it did not field any candidate due to the crisis that engulfed the party”.

Ahmed further disclosed that the party would do everything humanly and legally possible to collect its mandate from Matawelle.
“That moment that Matawelle defected to APC he ceased to be the Governor of Zamfara State because if APC is to field candidate they should wait till 2023 he added.
Asking whether the Governor would use the majority house of Assembly to impeach the Deputy Governor Barr Mahdi Aliyu Gusau for refusing to join the Governor in APC Ahmed said that it is not possible because the Constitution is clear on impeaching an elected official noting that the Deputy Governor has not done anything warrant to impeachment.
“Since Matawelle parted ways with Ahmed Yerima he has been contesting under PDP, now that God has given him the power he should remain grateful to God and PDP , if there is no PDP how can he become Governor since our constitution does not permit independent candidate he stated .
He appealed to all PDP supporters to remain calm to see what the party would do to reclaim its mandate.
It has been recalled that Matawelle yesterday defected with the 24 state house of Assembly members, 3 Senators , and 6 house house of representative members to All Progressive Congress.
