…..Damaturu Specialist Hospital Qualifies for O&G Training
The West African College of Surgeons, has granted approval for training of Junior and Senior Resident Doctors in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Specialist Hospital, Damaturu.
The approval signed by the Secretary General of the College, Prof. Philip Mshelbwala, stated that the approval was granted following the report from the visitation panel, which qualifies the hospital for the training.
It further stated that the college approved the training of 34 junior resident Doctors for membership and 17 senior resident Doctors for fellowship programmes.
It could be recalled that the West African College of Physicians accredited the Department of Community Medicine at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital for post graduate residency training.

This means Doctors can now be trained up to the level of consultants at Yobe State University Teaching Hospital.
It is indeed another positive development in manpower development and training by the Governor Buni administration to provide adequate manpower to health facilities to make Healthcare delivery truly accessible and affordable in Yobe state.
Two years ago, the Teaching Hospital was also accredited for training in radiology.
