The Yobe State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project has provided agricultural inputs to 100 farmers who were recently displaced by devastating floods in Garin Kolo, Nangere Local Government Area.
Speaking during the distribution exercise the ACReSAL State Project Coordinator, Shehu Alhaji Mohammed, said the intervention was designed to cushion the impact of the disaster on the farmers and support them back into productive activities.

“As ACReSAL we engaged with (SEMA) on this matter, and one of the critical gaps identified was the need for immediate livelihood support. These inputs are meant to alleviate the adverse effects of the flood, assist farmers in recovering their losses, and restore their means of livelihood,” he said.
The Project coordinator commended the Yobe State Government, through SEMA, for facilitating the safe relocation of the victims, thereby safeguarding lives and ensuring their dignity and security.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, community leader Maigari Hassan expressed gratitude to ACReSAL for responding swiftly to their plight, assuring that the inputs would be put to immediate use on their farms.
Items distributed include 100 pieces of Knapsack prayers, 100 bags of 5kg each of Rice Faro 44, Wheat and Maize improved variety seeds, as well as 300 liters of organic fertiliser among others.
