Yobe Empowers IDP Returnees Through Livelihood Capacity Building
In a bold move to promote economic empowerment and community resilience, the Yobe State Government, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has launched a six-week capacity-building training for 500 Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) returnees in Gujba Local Government Area.
The training, which focuses on the production of essential household products, including soap, detergent, petroleum jelly, hair cream, air freshener, liquid soap, and briquette making, aims to equip participants with skills in entrepreneurship, marketing, and financial management.
According to the Executive Secretary of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, “This training is not just about acquiring skills; it’s about creating opportunities, boosting household incomes, and building resilience in our communities. We are equipping our people to be agents of economic change.”
The training is taking place at the Skills Acquisition Center in Buni Yadi, which was constructed to serve as a hub for skills acquisition and community development. The center is expected to promote local enterprise and economic stability in affected communities.
