The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, has continued its recovery support to victims of floods and windy rains through the disbursement of cash assistance to 461 affected farmers in Nangere Local Government Area.
The exercise, held on 19th October 2025 at the Nangere Local Government Lodge, is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to help victims rebuild their livelihoods. The cash support complements earlier interventions in form of food and non-food items (NFIs) provided to affected households across the state.

In his remarks during the disbursement exercise the Executive Secretary of SEMA, Dr. Mohammed Goje sympathized with the affected farmers and reaffirmed Governor Buni’s commitment to ensuring that every affected family receives meaningful support.
He noted that this phase of assistance comes shortly after the successful relocation of the Garin Kolo community to a safer, better-equipped settlement with shelter, health, and WASH facilities.

“Now that the new Garin Kolo is fully settled and people are rebuilding their lives, governor Buni directed us to extend support to other affected households within available resources,” Dr. Goje stated.
The Executive Chairman of Nangere Local Government Area, Hon. Samaila Musa FCNA, represented by his Adviser on Special Duties, Mohammed Lawan Tikau, commended Governor Buni for his continuous concern for the welfare of his people. He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously and to continue praying for peace and progress in Nangere and Yobe State at large.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the timely intervention, describing it as a lifeline that will help them recover from the losses of crops and farm inputs caused by the recent floods and windy rains.
Through such periodic cash support initiatives, the Yobe State Government continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to humanitarian response, resilience building, and inclusive recovery — ensuring that no community is left behind in the journey toward a safer and more self-reliant Yobe State.
