Yobe Governor Grants Automatic Employment to First-Class Physics Graduate
In a move to celebrate academic excellence and promote girl-child education, Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has granted an automatic employment appointment to Surayya Muhammad Kabir, a standout graduate from Yobe State University.

Surayya, who earned a First-Class degree in Physics, met with the Governor in Damaturu today to formally accept her appointment letter.
The gesture comes as part of the state’s ongoing initiative to reward high-achieving students and strengthen the state’s civil service with top-tier local talent.
A Role Model for the State
During the presentation, Governor Buni lauded Surayya’s dedication, describing her as a beacon of hope for young women across the state.
“You are an excellent ambassador of the girl-child education program in the state,” Governor Buni said. “Others should emulate this excellent feat. Your success proves that with hard work, our students can compete at the highest levels.”
The Governor emphasized that Surayya’s achievement serves as a vital example for her peers, reinforcing the idea that academic merit will be met with tangible opportunities in Yobe State.

Commitment to Accessible Education
Beyond the individual recognition, Governor Buni used the occasion to reaffirm his administration’s broader educational goals. He pledged that the state would continue to invest in infrastructure and scholarship programs to ensure that financial status is never a barrier to learning.
“We will continue to ensure that no child in Yobe state is denied education due to his or her economic background,” the Governor assured.
“An Honor for My Family”
Responding to the gesture, Surayya expressed deep gratitude to the Governor for the unexpected opportunity. She noted that the automatic appointment was not just a personal victory, but a significant honor for her entire family.
The move is seen by many as a strategic step by the Buni administration to stem “brain drain” by ensuring that the state’s brightest minds are integrated into the local workforce immediately upon graduation.
