The Yobe State Government, in partnership with the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), has commenced a training workshop for Directors in the state civil service to strengthen compliance with ethical standards and the Code of Conduct.
The workshop was declared open by the Permanent Secretary for Manpower Development, Abbas Isah Bizi, who represented the Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa Shehu. He commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for promoting accountability and professionalism, noting that Directors play a critical role in ensuring effective governance and ethical leadership across ministries.
Bizi added that the initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to building a transparent and responsible workforce, while praising the CCB for its ongoing efforts to entrench integrity in public institutions.
Delivering a keynote address, the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Dr Abdullahi Usman Bello, represented by the Director of Education and Advocacy Services, Akinola Aramide Atolagbe, called for strict compliance with Nigeria’s asset declaration laws.
He emphasised that asset declaration is a constitutional obligation and a major tool for transparency, conflict of interest prevention, and public trust. Dr Bello identified challenges such as misunderstanding of requirements, confidentiality concerns, and digital submission issues, noting that the workshop was designed to address these gaps.
