Yobe govt, NLC sign agreement on new minimum wage
Yobe State Government has signed a new minimum wage agreement with organized labour, paving the way for payment to commence in December 2024.
The agreement was signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Mallam Wali, on behalf of the government, while the NLC Chairman, Yobe State Council, Comrade Muktar Musa Tarbutu, represented the labour union.
According to Baba Mallam Wali, the new minimum wage of N70,000 will benefit staff at all levels, including pensioners and those on special salary structures.
“However, consultations are still ongoing between the government and organized labour regarding the position of local government employees, as their payment schedule has not been clearly outlined”, he said.
