Yobe Govt Recovers 48 Stranded Cows
… Calls on Owners to Claim livestock.

The Yobe State Government Standing Committee on Recovery of Rustled Cattle and Other Livestock has announced the recovery of 48 stranded cows found without herdsmen or traceable owners.
According to the Committee, the livestock were discovered on Friday, 19th September 2025, between Mafa and Sassawa, spanning Tarmuwa and Damaturu Local Government Areas.
A combined team of Nigerian Army operatives and members of the Hunters Group, who were on routine operations in the area, recovered the cattle.

Chairman of the Standing Committee and Special Adviser to Governor Mai Mala Buni on Security Matters, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd.), said rightful owners are advised to come forward with valid proof of ownership to reclaim their livestock.
“This measure is part of the government’s sustained effort to recover rustled cattle, restore peace, and ensure justice for livestock owners across the state,” he noted.
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with security agencies, traditional rulers, and local communities to curb cattle rustling and related crimes in Yobe State.
