Yobe Govt. trains 4,000 newly employed staff for efficient service delivery

The Yobe Government on Friday organised an orientation workshop for 4,000 newly employed staff drawn from 178 political wards of the state.

Declaring the training open in Damaturu, the Yobe Head of Service, Mr Hamidu Alhaji, said that the training aimed to equip the new employees with the essential skills.

Alhaji said: “The orientation is to equip the new workers with the knowledge and values needed for effective service delivery in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies.

“The training, facilitated by CEES Assist Resources Ltd., is meant to build the capacity of the new employees and bring them together for interaction and sharing of ideas.”

The HoS said the training was designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of civil service structures and functions and equip participants with essential skills in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, among others.

He noted that the newly employed staff, drawn from across 178 political wards of the 17 local government areas of the state attended the orientation workshop at designated centres across the three senatorial districts of the state.

He thanked Gov. Mai Mala Buni, for his support to the development of the state civil service.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Establishment, Alhaji Shayubu Amshi, said the employment of young Degree, HND, NCE, and Diploma holders was an integral  part of the present administration’s efforts to reinvigorate the state civil service.

“Giving our youth jobs in the civil service will not only reduce unemployment, but it’s also a demonstration of the present administration’s plan to fill in vacuums created by massive retirement across all cadres,” Amshi said.
