Yobe HOS warn against abuse of office, corrupt practices and related matters.

By Yusuf Bukar Biriri.

It has recently come to the attention of the Office of the Head of Service that there are allegations of undue and unethical practices involving some civil servants within the Yobe State Civil Service.

These allegations relate particularly to the demand for money from applicants seeking employment in the State Civil Service.

In a statement signed by the head of service and made available to newsmen by the chief information and public relations officer office of the head of service Alhassan  sule mamudo Said some of these allegations were received in the form of petitions submitted to the Office of Head of Service, while others were formally communicated by security agencies.

Investigations are currently ongoing to ascertain the genuineness and veracity of these alleged grievous misconducts.

Against this background, and in line with the tradition of accountability, prudence, transparency, and effective management of public funds consistently upheld by the Government of Yobe State under both the present and past leadership of the State, the Office of the Head of Service, will not relent in its efforts to verify all reported cases, investigate all petitions received, and take appropriate action where wrongdoing is established.

Any civil servant found culpable of abuse of office or engagement in corrupt practices will be sanctioned strictly in accordance with the provisions of the PSR 04401 (xi) and (xvii).

It is pertinent to reiterate that the Office of the Head of Service remains a critical implementer of government policies, programmes, and services, in line with the policy direction of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, (Dr) Mai Mala Buni which is anchored on maintaining a clean, transparent, and service-oriented public service for effective service delivery to all and sundry, hence nobody shall be oppressed.

Furthermore, all MDAs are hereby reminded that the Office of the Head of Service, will not tolerate any act capable of frustrating the efforts of the Government toward the continuous employment of the teeming unemployed youths, which is aimed at providing them with livelihood, self-reliance, and dignity of labour.

All Heads of MDAs are therefore directed to sensitise officers under their supervision on this Circular and to ensure strict adherence to ethical conduct, professionalism, and the provisions of the PSR against corruption, dishonesty and abuse of office.

This Circular should be accorded the widest circulation for compliance, as contained in a letter issued and signed by Abdullahi Musa Shehu, Head of Service.
