The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Malam-Wali, made this known at the project’s inception meeting in Damaturu on Thursday.

Malam-Wali said the SOLID project, supported by the World Bank and the Federal Government, aimed to provide long-term solutions to the challenges faced by IDPs and their host communities.

He emphasised the need for a coordinated and inclusive approach to addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, including infrastructure development, livelihoods, social cohesion, and human capital investment.

“This project is designed to go beyond immediate humanitarian relief to focus on long-term solutions that will benefit both IDPs and the communities that welcome them,” he said.

The State Project Coordinator, Mr Suleiman Dauda, highlighted the project’s focus to include access to basic services and economic opportunities for IDPs and host communities.

Dauda said the project would support sustainable community development through key components such as infrastructure development, livelihood support, and human capital development.

Dauda emphasised the importance of government leadership, coordination, and collaboration among relevant stakeholders to ensure the project’s success.

He expressed the government  commitment to enhancing the protection of IDPs and creating sustainable interventions for the long-term development of the state.
