Yobe Livestock Commissioner Hosts FAO Team, Vows to Strengthen Partnership.

Yobe State Commissioner for Livestock Development, Hon. Yarima Lawan Mahmud, on Thursday received the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Yobe team, led by Ms Deborah Bwala, during a courtesy visit to his office in Damaturu.
Ms Bwala reaffirmed FAO’s commitment to supporting the state as it moves from emergency response interventions to sustainable livestock development.
She noted that the organisation will scale up efforts in pasture restocking, pasture production, and strategic animal disease surveillance, all geared toward enhancing livestock productivity across Yobe State.

In his remarks, Hon. Mahmud expressed satisfaction with FAO’s longstanding partnership and welcomed deeper collaboration.
He described the visit as timely, especially with the ministry’s recent establishment, and emphasised that it is fully prepared and operating at “top gear” to deliver on its mandate of transforming livestock development in the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Dr Idriss Yusuf Madaki, also commended FAO’s continuous support, recalling their collaborative work during his tenure as Programme Manager (PILOT).
He stressed the need for even stronger cooperation to expand livestock productivity initiatives across the state.
