The training took place at the local government audit conference hall in Damaturu on 25 November 2025.

The three-day capacity-building training was initiated to strengthen transparency and good governance at the grassroots level.

The  Commission, in collaboration with SoftTech Accounting Solutions Nigeria Limited, brought together all the  17 local government council treasurers.

In his remarks, the chairman of the commission, Alhaji Sule Ado, outlined that the training aimed at enhancing the financial discipline of the participants in line with Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration commitment towards transparency, accountability, and financial management.

According to him, the present administration prioritised the continuous training of local government unified staff to acquaint them with modern financial discipline.

Alhaji Sule Ado further stated that at the end of the programme, it is expected that the treasurer’s financial skills would be improved to meet the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).

He also said to improve revenue management by enabling them to better update and manage records for revenue-driven sources.

The Chairman expressed gratitude to Governor Buni for his continued support of the commission, adding that the training is apt and timely.

During the training, renowned academician from Yobe State University, Professor Ibrahim Umar, and Professor Yusuf Ali guided the participants throughout the session.

The forum of treasurers at the end of the training unanimously endorsed Alhaji Galadima Haruna as their new chairman.
