Yobe MCRP hands over water operation, maintenance equipment to RUWASA
The Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP) on Friday handed over water operation and maintenance equipment to the Yobe State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA) to boost the water sector in the state.
The items handed over include solar panels, solar pumps, riser pipes, complete sets of hand pumps, VLOM tools, AC pumps, and other essential tools.

The MCRP Project Coordinator in Yobe, Alhaji Idi Musa Jidawa, stated that the handed-over packages are part of the solutions to address the problem of water pollution in Yobe communities.
He explained that MCRP has achieved significant milestones, particularly in the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector, through the rehabilitation and upgrading of existing motorised infrastructure, such as boreholes, hand pumps, and VIP latrines in the state.

Jidawa revealed that the rehabilitated infrastructure had previously been in a state of disrepair and overstretched, as their capacities could no longer meet the demands of an ever-increasing population, exacerbated by displacement due to the protracted Boko Haram crisis.
“The project has also constructed new WASH infrastructure, including hybrid boreholes in health facilities, schools, abattoirs, and markets, while hand pumps have been drilled within rural communities,” he said.
He appealed to all stakeholders in the state—both public and private sectors—to remain resolute and continue to prioritize the operation and maintenance of WASH facilities.
Jidawa also thanked Yobe state governor Mai Mala Buni, who has remained an inspiration and pillar of support for the project.
Receiving the equipment, the Yobe state Commissioner of Water Resources, Engineer Usman Ahmed, expressed gratitude to MCRP for providing the platform to partner and work for the benefit of the people of the state.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Garba Hassan Nguru, Usman assured that the equipment would be utilised effectively to address the issue of water supply in the state. Blueprint
