Yobe Prepares To Host 5th Lake Chad Basin Governors Forum
Yobe State is gearing up to host the 5th Lake Chad Basin Governors Forum, scheduled to take place from January 29 to 31, 2025. A two-day joint preparatory meeting was held on December 3, 2024, between the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) team, along with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
One of the officials of the Committee, the Executive Secretary Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Dr Muhammad Goje revealed that the meeting focused on aligning efforts to ensure a seamless and impactful forum. Key stakeholders, including representatives of LCBC, UNDP, while the Yobe State LOC Chairman, emphasized the importance of synergy between the LOC and LCBC/UNDP teams in achieving the forum’s objectives.

The LOC chairman expressed appreciation to the executive governors of Yobe and Borno states for their continuous efforts and commitment to hosting a successful event. The meeting reviewed previous resolutions, presented concept notes for the forum, and discussed the thematic focus of the events.
